Dedicated to the Liberal Art of Eating
Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) serves the school's entire undergraduate, graduate, faculty and staff population with a system of 13 dining halls, 15 campus restaurants, a catering division, and a campus-wide payment system. HUDS' website is a crucial vehicle for communicating with its audience.
challenge
Develop an online brand for HUDS and create a website to appeal to a diverse user base, support four business units, and provide information and utility to satisfy a notoriously exacting constituency, Harvard undergrads.
solution
The new site showcases each of HUDS' four divisions with humor, helpful information, useful features, and bite-sized food and nutrition facts designed to keep users engaged and educated. Now, in addition to serving up a wealth of information, the site provides weekly menus with nutritional information, bag meal ordering, and quick and easy methods for communicating with the organization.
There has been overwhelmingly positive response to the site from students, staff, faculty, and the general community and site usage is consistently high. Yearly enhancements ensure that the site continues to bring added value to users and save HUDS staff time and effort. Additionally, the site has won numerous awards from both the interactive design and food services industries.
